Don't fall through the "cracks"
by mrsObfuscate inbeing able to understand and identify the "cracks" (i.e.
unintended consequences) in the many systems we are surrounded by had a profound influence on my ultimate decision to step away from the org.
i mentioned in my first post there were many nuanced details that added up to help me to finally take the steps i needed to exit, and this was a fairly big one.

Thanks for giving is your testimony sister!
This type of insight is really important to help those of us 'still in for spouses' to know how we might reach them. True, what affects one might not affect another, but it all helps somebody sometime..

I'm in the UK, a big city, around twenty congs, I can think of at least a dozen ms's with beards, and definitely two elders at least with goatees. They're talked about though, despite being solid believers. Certain congs will not have them give public talks. It's ridiculous that this conversation is even being had. -

Simon, How do you sustain this website?
by Wonderment insimon,.
first, i hope you and your family are having a nice christmas.. we are at the end of the year, so it's time to ponder a bit about how grateful we should be to you and all the contributors for making this site for what it is.
i have noticed other jw's forum related sites come and go, but this one has held steady for many years.

Thank you Simon. I'm glad you're a nerd, and I'm gladder that you get something out of it too.
This forum was a key instrument in my waking up, and I'm certain many others would echo that.
Cheers buddy!

Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching
by thedepressedsoul ini have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.
jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.
they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.

And I'll throw this in the mix too.
If Yahweh DID provide that poor penniless circuit overseer with a donation of just enough gas money to get them to the next call/village/bingo hall, then how is that not proving Satan's point he made with Job? That we only serve for what we can get out of it.

My dilemma
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini have a bit of a dilemma that i would welcome advice on from the forum.. a brother in my congregation is giving evidence of having woken up - his comments and talks are usually slanted towards topics discussed here.
he is a former elder and is part of a group of other former elders and ministerial servants who i regularly overhear using terms i would expect to hear from ones knowing ttat.
he is a quite an effective teacher and will probably influence some.. however, in the past he has caused lots of problems for myself and others who i like (including another poster to this site who i have identified) and continues to be someone who i dislike intensely on a personal level.. his comments have been noticed by the body of elders and he is being watched.

(As a warning, using terms that relate to ttatt might not be an indicator of awakening, I know elders that read on here just to keep up to speed with what the nasty apostates are blithering on about. They must pick up on some of the terms.. ) -

If he's been a git in the past, it could be that he becomes less so as he wakes up. The society breeds judgementalism, especially among appointed brothers. Is there not some way you can sound him out a bit without going too far and completely outing yourself? -

Thrown out to the wolves!
by Pandx in(2. after offering prayer without the disfellow-shipped person present, invite him into the room.
) i needed answers to as why the elders would not pray when they talked to me in the room.
3 letters have been sent to get reinstated and all denied and forgotten!

Alternately, now you know the game's rigged, play the system, play them at their own games. You'll have no problem getting reinstated now you know they're just men, knowing what they want to hear. If you choose to get reinstated, then never go to a meeting again, then you've gained the ability to be spoken to by your family once more. One in the eye for the brobots. Best of luck matey -

by Alive! inwas sipping my coffee, browsing here and there, and then focussed on reading here regarding arc, picked up some world news on same subject - and wondered if jw org would publish any information on their news site.. then, i flicked to jw talk - anything in their public news forum?
a newish headline 'australia and jehovah's witnesses' or something like that - i entered link - web page error, not found.

You absolutely right conceptual, that concentrated pot of simpering jdubs is simply a reflection of the bOrg it's come from, and we shouldn't expect any different.
Although the underhanded techniques they employ and the double standards of commanding others not to read apostate stuff then spending time on here looking for people they can judge (Christ - "judge not" ) are hardly Christian.
Yes, you, mister elder there, I'm talking to you, you may be able to justify it in your own mind, but really? Feed the poor, follow the counsel in the last verse of James 1, you know, do what EVERY OTHER CHURCH IN THE WORLD DOES, (and many many atheist organisations do too), and stop wasting your time here. Or if you're going to spend time reading here, be intellectually honest with yourself and get to grips with why we don't believe jdub teachings anymore. Sign up, argue your faith, if its the truth then you'll win right? Even if you don't change everyone's minds it's a good witness right? Isn't that part of your ministry, to bring back the lost sheep, the one lost sheep that the angels rejoice over while the 99 are safe in the fold? Those are Jesus' words, so why would the org tell you not to try to bring us back? Be proud of your faith, not sneaky. But be HONEST with yourself. If the truth is the truth then you have nothing to fear from defending it publicly.
I say this not as a taunt but with genuine human feeling. I've been there, secretly reading stuff I shouldn't have. (Not to catch people, but because I had unanswered questions). I've found answers here, where questions CAN be asked, where free conversation can be had, where people won't ostracise you because of a different opinion. Welcome brother!
